cycle Haven Foundation
Backed by business and health leaders in the CT community, Cycle Haven is a non-profit foundation formed exclusively to develop NESA and ensure that it becomes a high quality inclusive facility that contributes quality of life and drives significant economic benefit to the region. Cycle Haven’s partnership with the Velodrome Development Foundation assures support from some of the biggest names in cycling including Tour de France champion Greg LeMond and Olympic Medalist Nelson Vails.

With its affiliation to the TeamTrak, NESA is assured a top quality national and international year round cycling program featuring many of the world’s top cyclists, exciting TeamTrak events, talent development and training camps for beginners all the way up to the best Olympic and Paralympic athletes.

NESA is part of the SFM Network, the single largest and fastest growing network of multi-sports facilities in the U.S.A. SFA has served more than 2,000 communities since 2003 and their SFM-supported facilities benefit from a network that provides unparalleled service and that has generated more than 100 million user visits since 2015.
Our FOUNDERS
Rick Mayer
Founder, Cycle Haven
Rick Mayer has spent three decades as a business executive, entrepreneur, investor and philanthropist. His diverse business career includes working in finance at Morgan Guarantee Trust; running scrap steel, shipping and oil refining businesses in Barbados, Turks & Caicos, Belize and Costa Rica; and managing an international trade and investment development program in Yemen, Guatemala and Panama.
Throughout his career he has been an advisor and private equity investor in a variety of businesses including bio fuels, high tech irrigation systems, internet media, entertainment and sports. Rick is president of the MFUNd Inc., a family philanthropic foundation devoted to the task of creating a healthier and less toxic world through the support of sustainable food systems. Rick is founder and president of Cycle Haven, a Connecticut based non-profit focused on developing the New England Sports Arena, an indoor velodrome and sports complex being planned for the greater New Haven area. Mayer is a graduate of Yale University and a lifelong cyclist. As the initial financial backer of World Cycling Ltd and the TeamTrak Cycling League, Rick is dedicated to expanding the benefits of cycling to a wider audience in the U.S. and around the world.
